ALDA, Nebraska — Husker Harvest Days attracts tens of thousands, and they will notice big changes as soon as they walk through that gate.

“We want to keep it fresh and new and we certainly have new things this year,” said Matt Jungmann.

The world’s largest exhibition of agricultural irrigation systems doesn’t cost you a cent as long as you register online for free admission.

“You can do that at huskerharvestdays.com. We will provide QR codes for you or registration stations at the entrances,” Jungmann said.

Some visitors complained about the $15 fee at the entrance.

“We wanted to try something completely different,” Jungmann said. The show collects data as part of online registration, and anyone who doesn’t want to participate can pay $25 for a ticket.

As people walk around the grounds, they find a familiar food stand still cleaning up after the State Fair.

Jeff Leo of Cactus Jacks said, “We just came off a record at the Nebraska State Fair, it should be a great year, a great show.”

“We just ran our setup from there to here. We didn’t have a break, but we’re looking forward to doing it again,” said Sarah Leo.

Cactus Jacks, while popular with locals, has never been to Husker Harvest Days.

“For years we thought this would be a good opportunity, but we needed to partner with a school until an opportunity arose to achieve this goal and we partnered with Centura,” Jeff said.

All food vendors at the fair benefit local schools and the Centura Boosters provide volunteers and raise money.

The show director says that with the new entry policy, people can come on one day or all three and it will cost them nothing to see the latest developments in agriculture.

“The weather should be great,” said Jungmann.
