Warning: Spoilers follow for The Bachelorette, season 21, episode 9, which aired August 27, 2024 on ABC.

“I love you, you fucking idiot.”

That’s what University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate Jenn Tran confessed to Devin on Tuesday’s episode of The Bachelorette.

As Devin heard the words he had been waiting and longing for, the question was, would he end up making it into Trans’s top two?

In addition to revealing who made it to the final next Tuesday, there was also the opportunity to talk to many former participants of this season on “Männer erzählt alles”.

Two fan favorites have been invited to join Bachelor in Paradise next summer. Aaron revealed who he meant when he warned Tran that not all of her guys were ready for engagement. And Tran had a mic-drop moment with this season’s villain.

Here’s a look at all that and more:

Devin needed to know where Jenn Tran’s head was on The Bachelorette, so he went to her hotel room to find out

Devin had told Tran several times that he loved her. But she wasn’t ready to say it back. This was eating away at him inside and he marched into her hotel room to talk to her.

“I really appreciate everything we’ve been through and I think you’ve really seen throughout this whole experience that I wear my heart on my sleeve,” Devin told Tran.

Although Devin loves Tran, he says he doesn’t know how to finish the process with her without knowing what’s going on in her head.

Since she herself has never had a healthy relationship, expressing her feelings is not her strength, Tran said.

“You fought so hard for me to be here. And I can see it and feel it. I don’t know what I would do if you weren’t here. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t feel your love,” Tran said, speechless. “If we weren’t together, I don’t know what I would do. Devin, I love you, you fucking idiot… I love you, I really do.”

“I love you, Jenn,” Devin replied as the two sealed it with a kiss.

As Devin left the hotel room, Tran told him she loved him – again. After he said he loved her too, she said she loved him even more. Crazy!

Who went home from the rose ceremony on “The Bachelorette”? Who made it into Jenn Tran’s top 2?

Tran presented roses to Devin and Marcus during the ceremony, eliminating Jonathon.

After a previous relationship left him “completely destroyed,” Jonathon found it difficult to fully open up to Tran. This led to his relationship with Tran starting slowly and being just friends.

When they left, Jonathon was pretty hard on himself for standing in his own way and not tearing down his walls sooner.

“I think you were perfect for me, but I wasn’t perfect for you,” he told Tran. “And that’s a really bitter pill for me to swallow.”

With Jonathon, Tran could really be herself and she told him that she had never been able to do that with anyone before.

“You have two great guys down there and I really hope you find exactly what you’re looking for,” Jonathon told Tran. “You deserve it. You are absolutely incredible.”

“Men tell everything”

Aaron revealed who he meant when he warned Tran that not all boys are ready for engagement

Aaron, an aerospace engineer in the Air Force, decided to leave the show early to begin training as a fighter pilot.

But before he left, he dropped quite a bombshell. He warned her that some of the guys weren’t ready for engagement. Without giving her any further clues, Tran found his warning “disingenuous” and “cruel.”

Because he had a good relationship with Tran and was “one of the more mature guys” (his words), Aaron didn’t think Tran would react that way, he said during “Men Tell All.”

So who was Aaron talking about? Devin, Sam N. and… Spencer (?!?) The other guys and the crowd almost went crazy when Spencer mentioned his name.

After rewatching Spencer’s one-on-one interview, Aaron said, Spencer seemed uncomfortable talking about how he was cheated on by his fiancée. To Aaron, that meant Spencer wasn’t over it or ready for a relationship.

“You can still be healed and still feel good,” Spencer told Aaron.

Hakeem rushed to Spencer’s aid, calling him “amazing” and “there for the right reasons.”

Aaron’s own twin brother, who was sitting in the audience, felt that no one had the right to tell someone whether they were ready or not.

His brother? “Bachelor Nation” alumnus Noah Erb, who appeared in season 16 of “The Bachelorette” and is engaged to Abigail Heringer, whom he met on “Bachelor in Paradise.”

Speaking of “BiP” …

Host Jesse Palmer invited Jonathon and Hakeem to join Bachelor in Paradise. Did they accept?

Yes!

What “The Bachelorette” Jenn Tran and the boys had to say to Sam M.

Tran had an intense relationship with Sam M. from the beginning. When warning signs appeared, she held on to him desperately.

Things came to a head on a group date on a radio show when Sam M. resorted to the tired lines he’d been using all season and threw her a desperate declaration of love – or at least that’s how it came across.

Tran increasingly doubted whether Sam M. even knew her. After several opportunities, Tran had enough and sent him away.

During the Men Tell All show, Palmer brought up Sam M.’s famous catchphrase: “The most important thing is the most important thing.”

“Everything he says sounds like a movie,” Brian interjected. “It’s just words with no weight whatsoever.”

Palmer asked the guys if they thought Sam M. actually kept his eye on the most important thing during the season. “If Devin was the most important thing, then yes,” Jeremy replied. Sam M. apparently couldn’t help but pick a fight with Devin at every opportunity.

Looking back on the season, Sam M. said it was easy to see what he could have done differently, and the words that came to mind when Tran asked about it didn’t do his feelings justice.

When Palmer asked how strong his feelings for Tran were, Sam M. said “very strong.”

“Honestly, this was the first time I was really put in the position of having to explain why I love someone,” said Sam M. “I just couldn’t do it.”

Palmer asked if Sam M. really loved Tran as much as he claimed because it seemed so unexpected. Sam M. was “100%” committed to his job.

Later, when Tran came out to join the group, it was her turn to say a few lines to Sam M. herself.

“I’m going to say it in words you’ll understand, so I’m going to ‘keep the most important thing’ here,” she began.

Since they were obviously on different emotional and intellectual levels, she didn’t mind that Sam M. couldn’t describe love, Tran said.

What really upset Tran when looking back on the season was the way Sam M. disrespected the other guys and made their entire relationship with him about his own.

Instead of growing, learning and taking responsibility, Tran said, Sam M. blamed the show and the show’s producers for the way he was cut.

“In the end, the man I saw on TV was the exact man I had been sitting across from throughout the entire trip,” Tran said.

Tran said she wanted the best for Sam M., but if he didn’t reflect on his actions and learn from them, she would feel sorry for whoever he ended up with, no matter what.

“I definitely lost myself in some of those moments,” Sam M. said. “I wish I could go back and honestly recreate them. You saw the walls that I had built around my heart that you saw before me. And that’s something I’m forever grateful for and that’s something I can pass on to my next partner. For that, I really just want to say thank you.”

What the next “Bachelor”, Grant Ellis, wants from a partner

Grant, a day trader and former professional basketball player, was previously announced as the next “Bachelor” after he was eliminated at the rose ceremony in Episode 6.

Staying true to himself is something he learned from Tran and something he wants to maintain in his own search for love.

What is Grant looking for? A kind soul who is genuine and treats others well. He is looking for someone he can talk to about anything, good or bad. He wants to build a bond with his partner that never fades, he said.

Since Grant was announced as the next lead actor, more than 10,000 women have applied to be candidates for his season, Palmer revealed.

Grant said he will work on developing his emotional intelligence ahead of his season – and continue doing push-ups.

How to watch season 21 of “The Bachelorette”
