Shatrughan Sinha on Sonakshi’s wedding to Zaheer Iqbal: ‘Who will stand by my daughter if I don’t?’
Sonakshi Sinha is having the best time of her life with her husband Zaheer Iqbal. The couple got married on June 23, 2024, after being together for seven long years. However, there were constant rumors that Sonashi’s parents were unhappy with her union with Zaheer. Moreover, her brother Luv Sinha confirmed that he did not attend Sonakshi’s wedding as he did not want to have anything to do with some people.

Now, in an interview with IANS, politician and veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha spoke about his daughter Sonakshi Sinha’s wedding with Zaheer Iqbal. He stated that the duo’s marriage was not illegal and unconstitutional and that they did it with their own wish and the blessings of their parents. Shatrughan added that if he was not there for his daughter, who else would do it, he said:
“This is a question of marriage… Secondly, if the children get married, it is neither illegal nor unconstitutional. They have done it of their own free will and with our blessings. So I appreciate it. Who will stand by my daughter if not me… My wife Poonam Sinha and I have met to celebrate her wedding. It is about her happiness.”

Shatrughan Sinha says Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal were made for each other
The doting father further called Sonakshi and Zaheer made for each other and mentioned that he feels the duo is very happy together. Elaborating on this, Shatrughan added that parents will always stand up for their children’s happiness no matter what and said,
“Parents always stand up for the happiness of their children and I believe that our children are happy. I call them made for each other and we are very happy for them.”

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal got married on June 23, 2024, and their union came as a surprise to many. The couple was an interfaith marriage, but Sonakshi did not convert to Islam to marry Zaheer. However, people left no stone unturned to create hatred for the newlywed couple and even labelled their wedding as ‘Love Jihad’. While Sonakshi and Zaheer remained silent on the criticism, the actress disabled the comments section of her wedding photo post.

Zaheer Iqbal revealed Shatrughan’s reaction to his marriage proposal to Sonakshi
Earlier, in an interview with ETimes, Zaheer Iqbal was asked about how he proposed to Sonakshi Sinha’s father Shatrughan Sinha. The actor then revealed that Shatrughan is the nicest person he has met in a long time and admitted that he was nervous when they first met. However, once they started talking, they became like friends. Zaheer Iqbal further revealed that he went to Sonakshi’s house and had a private chat with Shatrughan Sinha. He told the veteran actor that he wanted to propose to Sonakshi Sinha. And the rest is history.
