Before Amazon Studios in 2022 The Mike Flanagan And Trevor Macy’s Intrepid Pictures would Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, the studio passed on The Dark Tower Pilot in 2020 out of The Walking Dead Glen Mazzara.
The showrunner/executive producer revealed his script for the yet-to-air pilot on The stunt listnow available to read.

Glen Mazzara’s “The Dark Tower”“ TV series was meant is intended to be a more faithful retelling of the book, removed from the panned 2017 film adaptation. It was supposed to take place many years before the events depicted in the film and focused on the History of creation by Roland Deschain – how he became a gunslinger and got his weapons, his first conflict with the man in black, his first love and his first mission as a gunslinger.
The Logline of the series: “Based on the books of The Dark Tower by Stephen KingYoung Roland Deschain investigates an insidious conspiracy in the city of Mejis, far from his hometown of Gilead. Here he finds love and learns his true destiny.”
The Cast of the pilot filmwhich was never officially announced or confirmed, is said to have included the following: Michael Rooker, Jerome Flynn And Joanna Ribeiro.
Mazzara had previously revealed details of his vision for the unfulfilled series adaptation and the yet-to-be-aired pilot film during an appearance on The King Casta podcast about King’s books and film adaptations.
Stephen King’s eight Dark Tower books cover several genres, including dark fantasy, science fiction, horror and westerns.
Regarding Flanagan’s interpretation of the series, Vernon Sanders of Amazon MGM Studios recently said The Wrap“Mike is incredibly passionate about it, and we are incredibly passionate about it at Intrepid. There are a few things in the pipeline that we are involved in with Intrepid, and we are trying to figure out how to prioritize. So I can’t say anything specific about ‘Dark Tower’ other than we are in weekly conversations with him about this and some other things that we are currently dealing with.”
