Where does Georgia Tech play in ESPN’s first bowl predictions of the season?

Georgia Tech and Florida State open the 2024 college football season on Saturday with a clash in Dublin, Ireland. With not a single game played yet, we’ll talk about the recently released bowl predictions from ESPN analysts Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura.

I know it’s way, way too early to be thinking about bowl predictions, but at this point in the year, there could be some exciting matchups. Georgia Tech’s focus right now is to beat Florida State and get to 1-0, but it would be great if the Yellow Jackets could reach their second straight bowl game. Last year, Georgia Tech reached their first bowl game since the 2018 season and won their first bowl game since 2016. It was a good first step for head coach Brent Key and his program, but they’re hoping the momentum continues this year. In the front row of ESPN’s bowl predictions, Schlabach sees Georgia Tech in the Pinstripe Bowl in New York City to face Big Ten foe Wisconsin, while Bonagura sees the Yellow Jackets missing a bowl entirely.

This would be an interesting matchup. Wisconsin hopes to make a leap forward in year two under former Cincinnati head coach Luke Fickell and has signed quarterback Tyler Van Dyke from Miami. The Badgers have a brutal schedule (similar to Georgia Tech) and could be an improved team in many ways, but don’t have a better record. They have been one of the most consistent programs in the country over the last 20 years and hope Fickell can help them win big. If this matchup does happen, it would be the first meeting between the two teams in program history.
