I’m a bride and I’m hiring someone to sell vapes at my wedding…trolls say they won’t come but it will fund our day

The costs of planning a wedding can quickly add up – so one frugal bride came up with an “ingenious” solution.

Australian Charleigh Joan shared her strategy on TikTok that will help the couple cover the costs of their wedding.

The beautiful Australian, who will marry the love of her life in 2025, has decided to invite hundreds of guests – and will use this large number to make a lot of money.

The reason for this is that the clever woman wants to “ban e-cigarettes completely” – and then set up a stand to sell them to party guests who would like to have a little puff on them.

Charleigh was absolutely thrilled with the enterprising plan and said: “When I organize my wedding, I will invite about 300 guests and ban e-cigarettes completely.”

“Then I will fire someone who secretly sells e-cigarettes.”

“The wedding should be self-sustaining,” she explained in her video the logic behind this step.

“The vision is the energy of the Kwik-E-Mart corner store,” she giggled in the caption.

Charleigh’s entrepreneurial spirit has clearly impressed many, as since the video was posted on the site, it has been viewed more than 3 million times in just two days.

Hundreds left comments and thousands liked it – but the feedback was mixed and not everyone was happy with the strict rule.

For example, some thought that guests would find a way to vape despite the ban.

“It’s good that I have something like bags to hide my things in,” wrote one viewer.

Others said their guest list would be shortened if those in attendance learned about the vaping ban rule.

“If I told them that, my friends would literally say they’re sorry they can’t come.”

A third agreed, writing: “The problem is that I can’t come.”

Budget-friendly wedding tips

Planning a wedding on a budget doesn’t mean you have to miss out on your dream day. Here are some tips to keep costs down and still create an unforgettable celebration:

Set a budget and stick to it

  • Determine your overall budget early and allocate funds to the different aspects of the wedding.
  • Track all expenses to avoid overspending.

Limit the guest list

  • Keep your guest list confidential to reduce catering, venue and other per-person expenses.

Choose an affordable venue

  • Consider unconventional venues such as parks, community halls, or a family member’s garden.
  • Look for venues where you can bring your own vendors.

DIY decorations

  • Create your own centerpieces, bouquets and other decorative items.
  • Use seasonal flowers and simple, elegant designs.

Choose a weekday or off-season wedding

  • Venues and suppliers often offer discounts for weekday or off-season weddings.

Simplify the menu

  • Choose a buffet or family-style meal instead of a plated meal.
  • Limit the number of courses and opt for affordable yet delicious options.

Borrow or rent clothes

  • Borrow wedding clothes from friends or family or rent dresses and suits.
  • Look for special offers or consider second-hand wedding dresses.

Digital invitations

  • Send digital invitations instead of printed ones to save on printing and postage costs.

Hire a DJ or create a playlist

  • Hire a DJ instead of a live band or create your own playlist for the reception.

Simplify the cake

  • Choose a small, simple cake for the ceremonial cutting and serve your guests a sheet cake.

By following these tips, you can create a beautiful and memorable wedding without breaking your budget. Remember, the focus should be on celebrating your love and connection, not how much you spend.

Fortunately, the comments were overwhelmingly positive, with the vast majority not only praising Charleigh’s cleverness but also thanking her for the inspiration.

“We love an entrepreneur queen,” one fan chimed in.

“Would it be wrong to save this in my wedding planning folder?” giggled another bride-to-be.

“Also, only sell a certain color to keep the pictures aesthetic,” someone else advised Charleigh to take the “brilliant” idea even further.

When will disposable vaporizers be banned?

The changes are expected to come into force at the end of this year or in early 2025.

Announcing the move, former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said: “As all parents and teachers will know, one of the most worrying trends at the moment is the rise in vaping among children. That’s why we must act before it spreads.”

Health Secretary Victoria Atkins told BBC Breakfast that ministers want to “help children escape the terrible pull of nicotine addiction, for which e-cigarettes can very often be the gateway”.
