Caitlin Clark tells the funny story behind her attempt to commentate on the MLB live broadcast

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has quickly proven herself to be one of the most entertaining players in the WNBA, but her entertaining off-court activities have also provided fans with plenty of fun.

In a viral video posted earlier this week, Fever teammate Lexie Hull secretly filmed Clark commentating on an MLB game between the Milwaukee Brewers and Philadelphia Phillies from her hotel room. Like a lot of Clark-related content these days, it went viral almost immediately.

Clark was asked by reporters after Indiana’s practice on Saturday about her attempt to provide live commentary on the game.

“I told (Lexie Hull) that sometimes I only commentate on a few games, so she said, ‘Okay, let’s do it right now.’ I didn’t know she was recording until shortly afterward,” Clark said. “But it’s kind of fun.”

“I follow the Phillies, so I know some of their players and stuff. It was pretty fun. I screwed up a couple of times. It’s a tough job; plus I was out of breath and exhausted. Kudos to all the commentators out there. I did it for about two minutes and needed a break. And in baseball, there’s a lot of dead time, so you have to come up with random things to talk about. So I talked about his shoes, random things. A little different than basketball.

“I don’t know if commentating is my future, but maybe one day someone will let me do it for fun.”

Clark already has a few offers from MLB teams in her inbox. The Brewers’ social media team asked Clark to “really” be on their Bally Sports Wisconsin broadcast, and she asked the Phillies on TikTok to hire her, too.

Of course, the Fever hope they’ll be too busy this fall to launch Clark’s commentating career. Indiana will face the Connecticut Sun in a best-of-three series to kick off the first round of the 2024 WNBA Playoffs.

The Fever and Sun will begin their first game at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday at Mohegan Sun Arena. We can expect Clark to start at point guard against Connecticut — not in the commentary booth.
