Eagles LB Devin White (ankle) will not travel to Brazil, ruled out

PHILADELPHIA – Eagles linebacker Devin White is out for Friday’s season opener against the Packers because of an ankle injury and will not make the team’s trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil.

White was listed as a limited participant on Tuesday’s practice report before being declared ineligible to play on Wednesday.

White, 26, signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Eagles in the offseason and spent much of the summer working with the first-team defense, often pairing with Zack Baun as the starting duo at the start of practice.

However, new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio frequently rotated players, including former Georgia star Nakobe Dean and rookie Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

Dean, who impressed in the final stages of training camp, will likely start against Green Bay with White out.

White played his first five seasons with the Buccaneers, where he made the NFL’s All-Rookie team and was named to the 2021 Pro Bowl.

He started 13 games last season and finished with 83 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He struggled with foot and groin injuries throughout the 2023 season and was replaced in the starting lineup by KJ Britt in the home stretch.
