Jalen Ramsey reportedly extends his contract with the Dolphins for a record amount and becomes the highest-paid cornerback
The Miami Dolphins have made sure in recent weeks that some of their key players will stay with them for a while.
Last week, head coach Mike McDaniel was rewarded with a multi-year contract extension. The Dolphins had previously signed quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Now Miami turns its attention to the defensive side of the ball.
Cornerback Jalen Ramsey, a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, has agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $72.3 million. NFL Network was the first to report on the deal.

Ramsey’s new contract surpasses the four-year extension that Denver Broncos star defensive back Patrick Surtain II signed earlier this week. Ramsey is once again the highest-paid player at his position in the NFL.
DOLPHINS HEAD COACH MIKE MCDANIEL REPORTEDLY AGREES TO THREE-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION
Ramsey has 22 interceptions and six forced fumbles over the past eight seasons, and the 29-year-old has shown he’s still capable of covering one side of the football field effectively.
However, Anthony Weaver, the Dolphins’ new defensive coordinator, has indicated that Ramsey will play on both sides of the field this season.
The Dolphins acquired Ramsey in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams last offseason.
He suffered a knee injury early in his first training camp in Miami and missed the first part of the 2023 season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. In his first season with the Dolphins, he recorded three interceptions and 22 tackles.

Ramsey was on the roster this week because of a hamstring injury, which kept him out of practice on Wednesday and Thursday. The Dolphins open their regular season on Sept. 8 when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars.
