According to several reports, former Chelsea, Tottenham and Paris St. Germain coach Mauricio Pochettino has agreed to take over the USMNT
Argentina will face Chile in Buenos Aires on Thursday as the world champions return to qualifying for the 2026 tournament.
It will be Argentina’s first game since they won their second consecutive Copa América title in the summer, when Lionel Scaloni’s team beat Colombia 1-0 in the final in July.
Argentina has made a good start to its World Cup qualifiers and is in first place in the CONMEBOL rankings after five wins in its first six games.

Chile, on the other hand, is struggling with only five points from their first six games. The Red are in eighth place, only Bolivia and Peru are behind them in the table.
Argentina and Chile met in the group stage of the Copa América. Argentina won 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Lautaro Martínez. This defeat meant Chile’s elimination in the group stage.
There will be one notable absence from the Argentine national team in this match: Lionel Messi will miss this international match as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.
