Younghoe Koo’s 58-yard field goal with two seconds left gave the Atlanta Falcons a 26-24 victory over the New Orleans Saints in Week 4. With the win, the Falcons and Saints are both 2-2 in the NFC South.

Alvin Kamara’s one-yard touchdown run with a minute left put the Saints on top 24-23. That ended a nine-play, 42-yard drive that began with a 32-yard pass from Derek Carr to Chris Olave. Carr completed five more passes in the series, moving New Orleans down another 51 yards.

But with 0:58 seconds left, Atlanta had just enough time to score a game-winning field goal from the 30-yard line. The Falcons faced a 2nd-and-10 after a false start penalty against center Ryan Neuzil, but then got the big play they needed with a pass interference call against Paulson Adebo. That resulted in a 30-yard gain.

Atlanta tried to get closer, but after Kirk Cousins threw three straight incompletions, there was no choice but to attempt a long kick to clinch the win. Koo made all four of his field goal attempts, scoring as many points as the Falcons’ offense could generate.

Overall, Cousins threw for 238 yards on 21 of 35 passes with one interception. Drake London led the Falcons with 64 yards receiving on six receptions, followed by Darnell Mooney with 56 yards on three catches. Tyler Allgeier ran for 60 yards on eight carries.

Atlanta’s additional 14 points came on turnovers.

The first occurred when Rashid Shaheed botched a punt early in the first quarter. Shaheed let the ball bounce off his facemask and tried to catch it over his shoulder at the Saints’ three-yard line. He attempted to recover the live ball in the end zone, but after a scramble, the Falcons’ KhaDarel Hodge recovered it for a touchdown.

Atlanta added some defensive value midway through the second quarter when Troy Andersen intercepted Carr at the Saints’ 47-yard line for a 47-yard pick-6.

Carr completed 28 of 36 attempts for 239 yards and this interception. Olave finished the game with 87 yards on eight receptions, while Shaheed added 83 yards on another eight catches. Kamara rushed for 77 yards and a score on 19 carries, with Taysom Hill scoring two touchdowns among his six carries.

Next up for the Falcons is another NFC South matchup against the first-place Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) on Thursday night. The Saints travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs next Monday.
