My analysis
Since opening at -136, the New York Yankees have taken money and moved at least 10 cents overall. I had this price estimated at -156, so I’m happy to take the Bronx Bombers tonight.
When you consider the matchup, there is a critical mismatch in pitching.
Carlos Rodon takes the mound for the Yankees, and while his performance has had ups and downs throughout the season, his chances of being relatively successful tonight are in good shape.
The Texas Rangers rank near the bottom of baseball in many important stats against lefties. Their batting average against lefties ranks 19th. But the most important aspect is their swing-and-miss rate against lefties. The Rangers have the eighth-highest strikeout rate against lefties and a whiff rate that also puts them in the top 10. That matters against Rodon because that’s his game.
Rodon has a top 25% K-rate and his strikeout rate is higher than it has been this season. I like that he limits Texas’ scoring opportunities, and even if the end result isn’t a strikeout, he should put pressure on the hitters who will inevitably force bad swings.
Rangers left-hander Andrew Heaney’s biggest problem is hard contact, which plays right into the Yankees’ hands. At their best, this is the best power team in the sport, and I’d like to put my money on New York tonight as that’s my best bet.

My analysis
This is a pretty above-market price, and we’re happy to take it. The consensus outside of BetRivers is that number is around -105 and as high as -115. Aaron Judge has a favorable matchup against Heaney tonight in many ways.
Heaney comes in with a barrel rate in the bottom 40% of baseball and a hard hit rate that’s even worse. Heaney is a fastball-heavy pitcher and Judge is the best fastball hitter in MLB. He also hits right behind Juan Soto, who is one of the best on-base threats around. This covers a lot of methods for successful hitting and getting Judge at plus salary feels like a steal.

Given Heaney’s struggles this season, this is a perfect matchup for Judge. Of course, we like the RBI value a little better, but we wanted some of that number too. We should have mentioned it above, but Judge’s numbers against lefties help our money. Mainly, he has the seventh-best isolated hitting power in baseball. It’s no wonder his career numbers against Heaney are so strong, as over half of his hits against the lefty are classified as hard contact.
