Yacht sinking in Sicily: Search for missing tech tycoon Mike Lynch and Bayesian passengers continues – live | Italy
After the sinking of a superyacht, the search for six missing people is renewed
Italian divers have launched a new search for six people missing since their yacht capsized off the coast of Sicily before dawn on Monday, AFP reported.
There were 22 people on board the British-flagged yacht Bayesian, including ten crew members.
Six people, including British technology magnate Mike Lynch, are still missing.
Lynch’s wife Angela Bacares was among the 15 rescued, but the businessman and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah were missing, Salvo Cocina, head of the civil protection agency in Sicily, told AFP.
Jonathan Bloomer, chairman of Morgan Stanley International Bank, and Chris Morvillo, lawyer at Clifford Chance, are also missing.
An initial search for the wreck about 50 meters below the sea surface was unsuccessful.
“Access was limited to the bridge only and was hampered by furniture blocking the passage,” firefighters said.
