Works by Betsy Headley and Deborah Jellison exhibited at WCGH

BELFAST — A new art exhibit featuring works by photographer Betsy Headley and mixed-media artist Deborah Jellison opened this month at Waldo County General Hospital. Their works are on display along the hospital’s main corridor near the laboratory and in the first-floor hallways of the Ludwig Medical Building.

The exhibit is part of an ongoing initiative by Waldo to showcase local artists. The Pen Bay and Waldo Art Committee, comprised of members of the care team at Waldo and Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, put out a call to artists in January to find artists with ties to Maine and New England to show their work in a series of 12-week exhibitions at the hospitals. The group reviewed 38 submissions and selected 29 artists who reflect the committee’s mission to welcome visitors with art that comforts and engages while celebrating the diversity, history and beauty of the Midcoast region.

Each exhibit contains QR codes that can be scanned with a smartphone or tablet to provide additional information about the featured artists.

The current exhibition runs until October 28, the next one is planned for the period from November 11 to January 27, 2025.
