Work on the main sewer in Plainville has begun | Municipalities

PLAINVILLE – A contractor has begun rehabilitating the main sewer lines on several streets in the city.

The work involves installing a liner, which cures in place, inside the existing pipe. Once lined, this essentially creates a new sewer pipe without the need to dig into the street, according to a city release.

Property owners will be advised in advance of any precautions they should take to assist the team in carrying out this work, such as limiting water use down the drain, stopping the use of washing machines and dishwashers whilst the work is carried out and disconnecting waste water pumps.

The work can cause odors to enter homes and other buildings. To reduce odors, fill traps in showers, sinks, and floor drains with water. Also, make sure basement sewer lines are plugged.

The police are regulating traffic and drivers and pedestrians are asked to be careful in the construction sites.

The following streets are affected: Brunner Street, Grove Street, Bugbee Street, Lincoln Avenue, Pleasant Street, Potter Avenue Easement, Barna Woods Way, South Street, West Beacon Street, East Bacon Street, Sidney Street, Cooney Avenue, Hilltop Road, Everett Avenue and YMCA Easement.
