Women’s soccer wins 2-0 against IU Indy

St. Charles, Missouri. – On Thursday, the Lindenwood women’s soccer team hosted IU Indy in its first home game. The Lions defeated the Jaguars 2-0.

GAME OVERVIEW
In the first half, the Lions’ defense held the Jaguars scoreless, allowing them only three shots on goal.th Minute, Eyglo Thorsteinsdottir broke the ice and scored the 1-0 lead for the Lions with a header into the upper right corner. Thorsteinsdottir’s goal came with a Tasneem Dizdarevic Corner kick. Four minutes later, Lindenwood was fouled in the box, resulting in a penalty. Anna Johnson would take the penalty and sink it into the bottom right corner, increasing Lindenwood’s lead to two goals. After the first period, Lindenwood led 2-0. Lindenwood had more shots on goal than the Jaguars 4-3 in that period.


In the second half, the Jaguars found their offensive form, getting eight shots, three of which were on goal. Lindenwood’s strong defensive play kept them scoreless in the period. Lindenwood had four shots in the period, two of which were on goal.



Caroline Ritter made her debut in goal, making four saves and recording the first shutout of her career.


After the game, Lindenwood improved its season record to 2-1-0.
