Women’s soccer team travels to play against Creighton

KALAMAZOO, Michigan – The Western Michigan women’s soccer team will play on the road for the first time this season tomorrow night when they face Creighton. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. ET.

LAST TIME
Western Michigan improved its record to 2-0-1 with a 3-0 win over Marquette on Sunday, August 25.

Jen Blitchok had her second two-goal game of the season, finding the net twice in the second half. Jaden Peck scored the Broncos’ other goal.

BLITCHOCKS NICE START
After receiving First Team All-MAC honors last season, Jen Blitchok has picked up right where she left off at the start of the 2024 season. With five goals this season, she is currently tied with the nation’s leading scorer.

Blitchok scored three goals last week and was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week. She has scored multiple goals in two games this season and is averaging 1.67 goals per game.

While Jen Blitchok has been on a goal-scoring spree at the start of the season, with numerous other players providing her with these opportunities.

Seven players have at least one assist, five players have two or more. Abby Werthman She leads the league with three goals, having provided an assist in every game so far this season.

Jenna Blackburn, Madi Canada, Emily Pagett And Heidi Thomas all have two in three games. Werthman leads the MAC in helpers, while the other four rank second in the league.

Tracking the Blue Jays
Creighton started the 2024 season 1-1, earning a win against Iowa State but losing to Minnesota.

WMU has an overall record of 0-1-1 against the Blue Jays. However, the two teams have not met since the 2006 season.

Azumi Manriki is the team’s leading scorer with two goals this season. Tilly Thomas scored the other goal for Creighton this year.

Alyssa Zalac played in goal for the Blue Jays and had a goals-against average of 1.50 and a save percentage of .700.
