Women’s soccer ranks 11th in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll

RICHARDSON, Texas – The West Texas A&M women’s soccer team finished 11th.th in the 2024 Lone Star Conference preseason poll, the conference office announced Wednesday. The preseason poll and preseason players of the year are voted on by LSC head coaches, sports information directors and media representatives.

Dallas Baptist is expected to win its fifth consecutive Lone Star Conference championship after winning the regular season and conference tournament last season. The Patriots scored 587 total points and collected all but one of the 42 possible first-place finishes. St. Mary’s followed with 519 points, with Angelo State (500), Texas Woman’s (456) and Midwestern State (420) taking the top five spots. Texas A&M International (348), St. Edward’s (1 fpv, 323), Lubbock Christian (278), Oklahoma Christian (234) and UT Tyler (216) finishing sixth through 10th.th Places. WT (200), UT Permian Basin (176), Eastern New Mexico (88) and Sul Ross State (65) complete the preseason rankings.

DBU’s Taylor Tufts and Parker Coe were named preseason LSC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively, while Texas Woman’s Amanda Farris received preseason Goalkeeper of the Year honors.

The Lady Buffs open the season on Saturday, September 7th at 1 p.m. against Western Colorado at The Pitch in Canyon.
