NASHVILLE, Tenn. – – The Belmont University women’s soccer team (1-2) will face rival Lipscomb (1-1-1) in the Battle of the Boulevard on Thursday, August 29. The last meeting between the teams sharing Belmont Boulevard was on August 25, 2019.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.

What is Bruin

  • Freshman striker Reagan Ross leads the team with five shots and is second in the MVC with four shots on goal.
  • Amanda Waggoner leads the Bruins with nine saves through two games. The redshirt sophomore had four saves against Vanderbilt on Aug. 22; on Aug. 18, she tied a career-high with five saves and earned her first career win.
  • Defender in second year of study Lillie Tabor leads the team with 255 minutes played. Tabor has played two consecutive 90-minute games for the first time in her career.
  • Belmont’s coaching staff all has ties to Lipscomb. Head coach Kelsey Cameron was assistant head coach to Kevin O’Brien when he took over the program in 2012. Cameron helped the Bisons to three ASUN championship finals from 2012-2016. Assistant Coach Daniel Vie (Lipscomb ’17) won honors for the Bisons for four years and served as a volunteer coach for the men’s program during the program’s ASUN regular season and tournament titles in 2021. Hailey Kerridge (Lipscomb ’20) – formerly Hailey Eck – won honors for four years and participated in three consecutive ASUN Tournament championships and two consecutive NCAA Championship appearances during the 2018-19 season. Goalkeeper Coach Kate Mason (Lipscomb ’19) played five seasons for O’Brien and was named ASUN Goalkeeper of the Year in 2018. She previously served as Lipscomb’s goaltending coach before joining Belmont this season.

  • Lipscomb suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday, 3-0, at Tennessee.
  • Junior goalkeeper Kaïna Cesar has a 1-1-1 record in three games with two goals on thirteen shots on goal. Cesar was named ASUN Goalkeeper of the Week on August 19 for her two missed shots in the Bisons’ opening week.
  • Bella Carapazza, the reigning ASUN Freshman of the Year and 2024 ASUN Preseason All-ASUN honoree, scored her first goal of the season against Alabama A&M on August 18. The midfielder is the team’s second-leading goalscorer (8).

  • Belmont leads the overall standings with 9-4-1 ahead of Lipscomb.
  • The first game between Belmont and Lipscomb took place on October 2, 1999. Belmont won the game 9-1 and Leia Scheeberger recorded the sixth hat trick in program history.
