Women’s golf announces schedule for 2024-25

LONG BEACH, California – The Long Beach State Women’s Golf Association has announced its schedule for the 2024-25 season. In addition to its own home tournament, several new venues are also planned. The goal is to make a run for the second Big West title in a row and to participate in the NCAA postseason.

The fall season begins with a new tournament: Long Beach State travels to New Mexico to compete in the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, which will be held at host New Mexico’s golf course in Albuquerque beginning Sunday, Sept. 8. The team will then compete in the Leadership and Golf Invitational in Seattle, Washington, before returning to the Ptarmigan Ram Classic, hosted by Colorado State, to cap off a busy September.

Another new tournament will close out the fall, as the Beach will compete in the Marilyn Smith Sunflower Invitational hosted by Kansas on October 7 and 8. In the spring, the Beach will once again begin February with a doubleheader, this year on the road against San Diego State on February 2.

Long Beach State is excited to return to hosting in 2024-25 and will host a three-day tournament, the Alice and John Wallace Women’s Golf Classic, from Feb. 15-17. The tournament will be held in the desert at Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert, California.

February also sees the Beach return to a premier Southern California tournament, the Bruin Wave Invitational, co-hosted by UCLA and Pepperdine, before returning to the desert for the Yale Invitational West at PGA West in La Quinta and returning to the Silicon Valley Showcase for the third consecutive year.

Finally, Beach will compete in the Chevron Silverado Showdown, co-hosted by Oregon and Colorado at the Silverado Resort in Napa, California, before attempting to defend its Big West title at the Big West Championship, again at Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas, April 13-15.

Six golfers from that championship squad return to the Long Beach State women’s golf team, and key additions have been made in anticipation of another great season.
