HESPERIA, Calif. (VVNG.com) – A woman was flown out by helicopter Monday morning following a serious multi-vehicle crash near Maple Elementary School.

The incident occurred on August 12, 2024, shortly before 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Mauna Loa Street. The collision involved a green GMC Yukon, a silver Toyota Camry, and a white Chevy Tahoe.

San Bernardino County Firefighters responded immediately to the accident and reported that one person was trapped and needed to be extricated. A rescue helicopter was then requested to land at Desert Valley Hospital.

The woman driving the Camry suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown by helicopter to an out-of-area trauma center. Witnesses at the scene reported that she kept losing consciousness during transport.

Later updates from acquaintances revealed that she had undergone surgery on a broken hip and wrist and was expected to recover.

The collision caused temporary lane closures in the area. VVNG attempted to reach Amanda Paslak, spokeswoman for the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station, for additional information but did not receive a response.

The cause of the accident is currently being investigated by the Hesperia Police Department.
