Wolves transfer news: Gary O’Neil on deals

Head coach Gary O’Neil has warned that Wolves will have to be “happy” with their transfer dealings when the transfer window closes on Friday.

Wolves lost 6-2 at home to Chelsea on Sunday, with O’Neil starting with just one summer signing, striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

They had to battle with Ipswich for Dara O’Shea, who moved to Portman Road from Burnley, while also looking for a £40m replacement for Max Kilman after he joined West Ham in July.

The club still wants to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, although the Gunners would prefer to sell the England international as Wolves have initially offered him a loan with an option to buy.

Burnley winger Luca Koleosho is also a target after the club sold Pedro Neto to Chelsea for £54 million.

O’Neil said: “Everyone knows the financial constraints we are under and have been since I have been here. We have raised good funds in this transfer window and the team will need help.”

“Once the window closes, it will not open again for a few months. And when it closes, we have to feel comfortable where we are.

“I have a lot of work ahead of me, I have to get more out of our group. I also have to understand that the Premier League is tough and that if you sell good players you become weaker.”

“We will see if we break even before we close next Friday. We have raised some good funds and hope to put them to good use in the next few days.”
