A court document Thursday revealed that Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida attended a party with a 17-year-old high school student who is at the center of an alleged sex trafficking scandal, NOTUS reported.

The documents, filed in federal court in Florida, cite affidavits from three witnesses who saw the then-35-year-old congressman at the party, where drugs including cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis were present. One of the witnesses cited in the documents claimed the 17-year-old girl was naked while people were there to “engage in sexual activity,” The Daily Beast reported.

The minor, identified in the documents as AB, reportedly arrived in her mother’s car, and the party itself took place on July 15, 2017, at the home of Gaetz’s friend and Florida lobbyist Chris Dorworth. The affidavits were written by defense attorneys interviewing witnesses as part of a civil lawsuit Dorworth filed in 2023. The GOP lobbyist had claimed he had been wrongly linked to the alleged sex trafficking scandal that has dogged Gaetz for years. (Gaetz has not been charged with any crime.)

Although Dorworth ultimately dropped his lawsuit, his attorneys filed legal documents to recoup legal fees for the baseless lawsuit.

“The findings made to date in this case indicate that on Saturday, July 15, 2017, Dorworth hosted a party at his residence…with the following guests: (1) AB; ​​(2) KM; (3) BG; (4) Matt Gaetz,” the attorneys wrote in their filing. Three women saw Gaetz at the 2017 party, including KM, an eyewitness, and BG, the congressman’s ex-girlfriend.

The defense’s court filings also revealed the findings of a digital forensics expert who identified Gaetz’s phone number with the 850 area code and concluded that he texted back and forth with Dorworth nearly 30 times on July 15. The congressman also called his friend twice just hours before the party began.

These documents, according to NOTUS, are the first time that “this affidavit has been referenced in public court records alleging that the Congressman attended one of the long-circulating parties related to an alleged sex scandal involving minors.”

Although the Justice Department investigated Gaetz, it ultimately declined to file charges. Gaetz has denied all allegations accusing him of sex trafficking and having sex with minors.
