It’s been a while since Wisconsin hosted a non-league game like this.

The No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide visits Camp Randall on Saturday in what is likely the biggest non-league game for the Badgers since UW defeated No. 5 LSU 16-14 at Lambeau Field in 2016.

If the Badgers pull off a similar upset, it would be the first time in 50 years that UW has won a non-conference game in Madison against a team ranked fourth or higher. However, they are 16.5-point underdogs.

Wisconsin vs. Alabama Predictions, Tips, Odds

Odds courtesy of BetMGM as of Friday, September 13

MARK STEWART: This will be a great benchmark for the Badgers as they head into Big Ten play. I know there are questions about Wisconsin’s defense, but I wonder how the offense will fare. UW, which had 28 points in Week 1 and 27 in Week 2, still has a lot to prove on that side of the ball. Still, I think the Badgers will be competitive at home. Alabama 27, Wisconsin 17.

JR RADCLIFFE: Like many others, I don’t think the Badgers will beat Alabama. The remaining dissenting voice in my head believes, anecdotally, that UW’s results in recent years often seem to defy expectations, both for better and for worse. Maybe Alabama has the same sluggish-by-its-standards first half it did against South Florida and Wisconsin strikes? Maybe UW finds a way to carry its strong fourth-quarter performances into all four quarters? Maybe UW makes the necessary adjustments to at least limit the running game? Maybe, but probably not. Alabama 35, Wisconsin 10.
