Will there be a Jackpot 2 movie? Director Paul hints at sequels (exclusive)

During the premiere of the film on the red carpet jackpot Director Paul Feig casually alluded to the fact that he wanted Jason Statham to play the lead role Jackpot2 if it ever gets the green light.

Amazon Studios’ latest comedy film – starring John Cena, Awkwafina and Simu Liu – is set in a dystopian alternate reality that turns the lottery into a Hunger Games Art. If a person receives the winning ticket, he or she must survive until sunset to receive the prize.

That’s a considerable challenge when they’re constantly being pursued and hunted by virtually all of Los Angeles. If someone manages to kill the target, the killer gets to keep the profits instead.

Jackpot director hints at a possible sequel on the red carpet

Russ Milheim of The Direct was on the red carpet for jackpot to talk to the stars and filmmakers behind Amazon Studios’ latest film – which also included a possible teaser for a hypothetical sequel.

When asked how he could survive if everyone in the city of Los Angeles was chasing him for his lottery winnings, jackpot Director Paul Feig made it clear who he called for reinforcements:

“I call John Cena or Simu Liu or Jason Statham and say, ‘Help.'”

When asked where Jason Statham was in this film, Feig jokingly exclaimed: “There is always a sequel.”

While a sequel is far from certain, the film’s premise lends itself well to a more creative mindset. Statham would also be a perfect addition to the cast, as his role as an action star combined with his lesser-known comedic talent could work wonders for both John Cena and Awkwafina.

Rob Yescombe, who wrote jackpothad a different answer when asked how he would survive in Los Angeles after winning the lottery: “Who says I will not accept death?”

“Who says I won’t accept death? Just get it over with. I think that’s it. I’m going to look for a person that I think deserves it and try to impale myself on the stake for them. Sacrifice. That way they win it and go straight to heaven. That’s a lot better than winning a billion dollars.”

Yescombe was then asked what he thought was the most memorable moment in the film, with the creative quickly praising both Awkwafina and John Cena, saying how cool it was to watch them in all the action:

“Honestly, watching Awkwafina and John Cena in action. Because Cena has decades of experience doing this kind of thing, but for Awkwafina, it’s a little newer. And just seeing the two of them work together in a sympathetic way, not just as a great comedic duo, but a great physical comedic duo. Because a big inspiration for me and Paul in making this movie was old Jackie Chan movies, the joy of that kind of action. So it’s so great to see two great comedic actors come together to do this.”

When asked whether the author himself had ever won money on a scratch card, he admitted that he “Won $5:”

“I won $5. I used the $5 to buy another ticket. I lost the $5.”

Sam Asghari (Senior Agent Ash) believed that the best way to survive a bloodthirsty mob in Los Angeles was to “hide in plain sight:”

“I feel like the city of Los Angeles is constantly hunting everyone. I love the city of Los Angeles, it’s the greatest city in the world and clearly the City of Angels. But if they were chasing me for a lottery ticket, I would hide in plain sight because that’s the best strategy. If you want to hide from paparazzi in Los Angeles, hide in plain sight.”

For Asghari, the most unique moment on jackpot for him his “Fight scene with John Cena:”

“The most unique thing I experienced was my fight scene with John Cena and his professionalism, his comedic timing, his professional demeanor and the surprise that someone could go from WWE to acting and give it his all, that really surprised me.”

Murray Hill, who plays Johnny Grand, the television personality of the big lottery, probably had the best survival strategy for keeping a lottery win in the world of jackpot: they would hide in “the LA subway:”

“The LA subway That’s what I do. I would go underground… I don’t even know where that is. I don’t even know where to hide, but that’s where I go.”

Hill then took the time to talk about how awesome it was to work with a real, working flamethrower in one scene in the film:

“The craziest and most unique thing was working with this flamethrower, because it wasn’t a prop. It was real. Between takes, I held it by my side and the gas came out and I peed my pants. And I can’t wait to see the movie… One wrong move and I would burst into flames, because it’s a very flammable material.”

Of all the answers to the question of how to jackpot Michael Hitchcock (Ron Wrexler) had perhaps the most understandable lottery ticket:

“I don’t think so. I would panic, go out for a pizza and they would kill me immediately.”
