When Princess Märtha-Louise of Norway marries Durek Verrett in the fjords of Geiranger this week, it will not be a traditional royal wedding. The couple have always been a little different: from the princess’s so-called “angel school,” where she taught students how to communicate with celestial beings, to “Shaman” Durek’s claim that the couple first met millennia ago as a pharaoh and his queen in ancient Egypt. And although King Harald and Queen Sonja have given their blessing to the partnership, the royal family has announced that they will not be photographed at the wedding after Durek and Märtha-Louise secured exclusive coverage rights to Hello!a highly controversial move that was criticized by the national press.

Yet despite all the drama, the auspicious occasion could still promise all the pomp and circumstance of a princess’s wedding day. Verrett has faced backlash in the past for his “conspiracy theory” beliefs (including claiming he is “a hybrid reptilian-Andromedan species”), but the “shaman” appears to be a traditionalist at heart and received the blessing of the Norwegian king and queen to marry their daughter, who is fourth in line to the throne despite stepping down from her royal roles in 2022. While the “sexy and cool” dress code may be a first for a wedding of this stature, one thing is for sure: All eyes will be on Princess Märtha-Louise’s choice of tiara.

While we don’t know for sure if the 52-year-old bride will be wearing a headpiece on her big day, she has worn some dazzling tiaras on her royal engagements over the years. Take her most signature piece, for example: the “King Olav’s Gift” tiara. As The Court Jeweller describes, it was given to Princess Märtha-Louise by her grandfather, then-King Olav, on the occasion of her 18th birthday in 1989. In the decades since, the princess has often resorted to this diamond and pearl piece, which is crafted in a wheat-like design.
