Why Travis Kelce was “greedy” on the set of “Grotesquerie”

Emmy-winning actress Niecy Nash has spoken out about Travis Kelce’s emerging acting career.

“Travis Kelce is greedy, he eats a lot. A lot! But other than me teasing him about it, we really had a lot of fun working together,” Nash, 54, told The Post.

Nash co-stars with the NFL player in Ryan Murphy’s latest show, “Grotesquerie,” which premieres Wednesday on FX and streams the next day on Hulu.

The drama series is about Detective Lois Tryon (Nash), who investigates a series of crimes in a small community that seem strangely personal to her, as if someone were mocking her.

She soon gets help from Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond), a nun and journalist. Lois also struggles with a strained relationship with her daughter (Raven Goodwin) and her husband (Courtney B. Vance), who is in long-term care. Lesley Manville (“The Crown”) plays a nurse, while Taylor Swift’s boyfriend appears in his first acting role.

Nash joked about Kelce: “I’m a Chiefs fan now.”

She added, “Am I a Chiefs fan or am I just a Travis fan? Because no matter what team he was on, that would probably be my team at that point! He’s so charming, wonderful and came to work well prepared. A professional, through and through. I really enjoyed working with him and I liked him as a person.”

Nash, best known for “Reno 911!”, “Claws” and “When They See Us,” won a 2022 Emmy for outstanding supporting actress in another Ryan Murphy show, “Dahmer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.”

When Murphy calls to offer her a role in one of his shows, Nash says her answer is “automatic yes.”

She joked: “Forever and ever.”

Although Nash is a seasoned veteran in both comedy and drama, she said “Grotesquerie” represents a new challenge for her.

“I’ve never played a character like this before,” she told The Post.

“So I really had to think about it. I had to think about the conversations I’d had with people over time – when you meet people, you can take something away and put it in your acting bag. I didn’t base her on anyone in particular, but she’s a little different to the people I’ve met.”

The former “Scream Queens” star said Lois was battling alcoholism.

“I’ve never played a woman with an addiction before… it was something completely different to get into. You can be in different places. Are you tipsy? Are you drunk? Are you hungover? There are many places you can be,” she said, adding that the challenge of the role was “keeping track of what just happened so you understand where you are emotionally and as far as addiction goes, you have to keep that in mind.”

The cast and crew were in the dark until the end as to who the murderer was.

“The way this serial killer commits his crimes sometimes makes you think, ‘Excuse me?’ I’ve never seen or heard of anything like this. How could Ryan even imagine this?” Nash said.

“And interestingly, the whole time the whole crew was talking about who the serial killer was. Who was it? ‘I think it’s this person, I think it’s that person.’ We were all there, right up until the end. So you definitely want to stick around and try to figure out what’s going on.”

When Nash finally discovered the identity of the killer, she said she was “very surprised.”
