The most exciting Wolverine scene in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was not included in the theatrical version of Deadpool and Wolverine. During the entire term Deadpool and Wolverine is packed with cameos, references, and bonus details galore — and some additional moments are released outside of the actual film. With the release of a particular scene online, I’m only more excited about the extras that might accompany the home release.

While the end of Deadpool and Wolverine is ambiguous about the future of its heroes, allowing them to reappear or spend the rest of their lives in their universe. I believe there is more that can be done with these characters. While Hugh Jackman previously portrayed Wolverine in Loganthis film gets around that by creating a new twist. Although the character is still played by Hugh Jackman, it’s a new take on the hero. With deeper comic book roots and a new take on the hero, that might be enough to entice the actor to return to the role.

Hugh Jackman’s Deadpool and Wolverine catchphrase scene does not appear in the actual film

In a new scene posted on Instagram, Deadpool helps Wolverine say his comic catchphrase: “I am the best at what I do, and what I do is not very nice.” by holding up a sign with his slogan. The scene is not in the finished film, but was posted online by Ryan Reynolds on August 4th.

This behind-the-scenes footage thus became another marketing tool for the film, continuing its unusual campaign that promoted the release of a silly and provocative Dead Pool Popcorn bucket. The moment is a wonderful nod to Jackman’s acting past and the franchise’s comic book roots, and following it, I’m excited to see if more comic book references might surface.

In Chris Claremont’s comics, Wolverine says these words, and since then they have become a catchphrase for the mutant. Claremont is one of the most influential authors in X-Men comic book history and was particularly important in creating the team as most fans understand it today. While Len Wein and John Romita Sr. created Wolverine, The hero was brought to life by Chris Claremont and made into the X-Man he is today. So I was pleased to see this reference to Claremont’s importance in this new scene.

Deadpool and Wolverine is a film that clearly knows and understands the extensive history of its characters. Throughout its running time, the film casually drops many references to the comics and film history. These references are made in countless Dead Pool Easter Eggs, from scenes where Blade makes a joke about the MCUs blade Development hell, Wolverine, in a classic brown and yellow outfit, fights the Hulk in a scene that marks his first appearance in a comic book. This little extra scene is another fun nod to the franchise’s comic book history.

Wolverine in Deadpool and Wolverine is brutal, angry, and unhappy upon its introduction. While Hugh Jackman spent decades building Wolverine for the big screen, the film creates a new version of the hero that is more directly influenced by the comics and cartoons of the past. With his iconic outfit and lines straight out of the comic book, I was excited to see the Wolverine I’ve always wanted in the movies. Amazingly, they didn’t even need a new, smaller actor to reinvent the character the way I always wanted to see.

However and wherever that happens, according to Deadpool and WolverineI’m excited to see what the studio does with Wolverine.
