Why is October 3rd “Mean Girls Day”?

If you are a fan of the movie Mean Girls, you probably know why October 3rd has a special meaning and is more attractive than other days of the year.

Since the hit comedy was released 20 years ago, October 3rd has been commonly referred to as “Mean Girls Day.” But why is that?

In the film, actress Lindsay Lohan, who played Cady Heron, begins talking to her crush Aaron Samuels, played by Jonathan Bennett.

Lohan is responsible for an iconic line when she says in a voiceover montage, “On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was.”

“It’s October 3rd,” Lohan says in the scene.

In honor of the film’s 20th anniversary, Mean Girls returns to theaters across the country on October 3rd.

New “Mean Girls” film released

Earlier this year, Tina Fey filmed and released a new “Mean Girls” film – an adaptation of the Broadway musical inspired by the 2004 film.

Like the 2004 version, the musical film follows Cady’s move to the suburbs, where she experiences the treacherous hierarchies of high school.

There she is accepted by an elite but superficial group of girls, the Plastics, led by Regina George – played by Reneé Rapp.

It was touted as “a new twist on Tina Fey” that included songs and new technology, but Fey said the “core story” still resonates two decades later.
