Why Billie Eilish missed the 2024 MTV VMAs

From awards shows to her inevitable hit “Birds of a Feather” dominating the summer, Billie Eilish is having a better year than most. Next up, the singer is embarking on her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour, which might explain why she was absent from the 2024 MTV VMAs despite four nominations.

The singer was nominated in three categories: Video of the Year, Video for Good and Song of the Summer. She was nominated twice in the Song of the Summer category, for her song “Birds of a Feather” and her performance on Charli XCX’s “Guess.”

During a recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel LiveEilish said she and her frequent collaborator and brother Finneas produced “Birds of a Feather” while traveling in an SUV in Brazil. “It’s a very normal thing for me and Finneas, that we always work in the most random places,” she explained, adding that her binding The hit film “No Time to Die” was recorded in a bunk bed on the tour bus.
