“This isn’t the retirement video I was expecting either, when I first thought I was doing this because Charlie is going to be a big sister,” Morgan later adds. “I’m pregnant and as unexpected as this was, we’re over the moon. Family means everything to me.”

Morgan and Carrasco began dating during their freshman year at the University of California, Berkeley. In 2013, the two took their relationship a step further and got engaged. The couple then married in 2014 in a wedding in Santa Barbara, California.

Now with another child on the way, Carrasco and Morgan are preparing for their new life as a family of four.

Servando Carrasco met Alex Morgan as a teenager

Carrasco recalled how he met Morgan in a 2019 interview with The Athletic, saying their paths crossed when they were both attending the University of California, Berkeley.

“I’ve known Alex since I was 18. We both played football at Cal and started dating freshmen year,” he said. “We’ve been together ever since.”

When asked how her playing was back then, he said he immediately noticed how talented she was.

“Her speed on the football field was the first thing I noticed, along with the huge knee brace she was wearing because she’d had cruciate ligament surgery about six months earlier. To be back fit after six months is pretty incredible, but that’s Alex,” he said. “She was pretty raw and wearing that huge, squeaky brace, but she could still run pretty damn fast.”

Carrasco, 36, and his wife love soccer. In 2011, Carrasco was selected 27th overall in the Major League Soccer SuperDraft. The first MLS team he played for was Seattle Sounders FC. He has also played for teams such as Sporting Kansas City and Los Angeles Galaxy.

Speaking to The Athletic, Carrasco said he always gets nervous watching Morgan play football.

“You want them to do a damn good job,” he said.

He said one way he copes with his nervousness is by believing in his wife and supporting her in her career.

“But once she’s on the field, there’s really nothing I can do except be there for her and support her in any way I can,” he said. “But yeah, it’s pretty nerve-wracking when you can’t help. That’s just part of loving someone.”

Servando Carrasco proposed to Alex Morgan during a fireworks display

Carrasco and Morgan got engaged in December 2013. In an interview with The Knot, Morgan recalled how her boyfriend proposed to her during an annual fireworks display in Manhattan Beach.

“He planned the proposal for that night and asked me to stand up and then marry him,” she said. “We drove to my dad’s house on our beach cruisers to celebrate with our family and friends and drink champagne. We had talked about what kind of engagement ring I wanted before the proposal, but I wasn’t really set on a particular style. He had it custom made, though.”

The couple later married on New Year’s Eve 2014. The ceremony, which took place in Santa Barbara, California, was attended by all their loved ones.

“Tonight, to be surrounded by our family and friends in such a beautiful place, and on New Year’s Eve, was magical,” Morgan said in an interview with People.

The birth of Servando Carrasco’s daughter was the “best day” of his life

On May 7, 2020, Carrasco and Morgan gave birth to their daughter Charlie.

“She made us wait longer than expected, but I should have known she would do it her way and her way only,” Morgan said on Instagram, calling Charlie her “super moon baby.”

In a separate post, Carrasco shared a close-up of Charlie’s face and said her birth was the “most beautiful day of my life.”

“We love you so much, baby. Alex, you are such a fighter,” he said.
