Whitney Leavitt explains her decision to step down from MomTok

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

Whitney Leavitt leaves MomTok.

In conclusion, The Secret Lives of Mormon WivesWhitney decides to leave MomTok and focus on her family.

“I want to focus on my family. I want to focus on what we want our future to look like,” Whitney tells her family about her mixed feelings about MomTok. “I want to focus on my farm!”

Whitney’s absence from the performance of Mayci Neeley’s “Baby Mama” made it clear that her feelings for women were no longer the same.

The women were all shocked when Whitney showed up at Mikayla Matthews’ birthday party, if only for a minute. She pulls Mayci aside after being unable to reach her since she didn’t attend the event.

“I have to say I’m upset. I don’t expect much from any friendship. This is the only thing I expected,” says Mayci.

“Just say, ‘Hey, I just wanted to let you know I support you.'”

“It felt selfish. I feel like I try so hard to support you. Most of all, I try to have conversations, stand up for you, and defend you because I love you. And then when I need support, you’re not there for me.”

“I just wasn’t in the mood. I needed to distance myself from everything and everyone,” Whitney replies, explaining that Mayci was collateral damage as part of MomTok.

The conversation ends awkwardly when Mayci says in a confessional that she doesn’t feel like Whitney cares about what she did, despite her apologies.

“I want to be surrounded by people who support and build me up. That’s why I’m retiring from MomTok,” Whitney concluded.

“I think MomTok is better off without Whitney. She gets a lot of views and attention, but I don’t think we need her,” Mikayla says in her own confessional.

“It’s like, ‘Out of sight, out of mind.’ She wants everyone to run after her and say, ‘No, Whitney, we love you, come back.’ I’m just exhausted at this point.”

In her final scene, Whitney concludes with, “My parting words to MomTok? Good luck without me.”

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is currently streaming on Hulu.
