While women shine at the Olympics, a sports bar opens that is aimed specifically at female athletes

At the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, women have shown incredible athleticism and skill in competitions ranging from track and field to swimming to team sports. To celebrate these achievements, a sports bar has now opened in Long Beach, California, highlighting the achievements of female athletes.

Jackie Diener, owner of Watch Me! Sports Bar, said soccer is “by far” one of the most popular sports among guests at her concept bar.

“Most people are cheering for Team USA, so it’s pretty fun,” Diener said.

The women’s water polo team practices locally in Long Beach, which seems to have brought the team more exposure as a local bar, Diener said. And women’s basketball is another popular draw at Watch Me!

According to Diener, “we’re seeing more women in leadership roles in marketing, allowing them to make different decisions than in the past.” She believes this is one of the reasons why the popularity of women’s sports on television is skyrocketing.

According to Diener, there are many sports bars in various locations that cater specifically to women, and the group of female sports bar owners supports each other.
