Energy Transfer issued the following statement:

This morning in La Porte, Texas, a fire occurred at a valve station for a 20″ LPG line on Spencer Highway. There are currently no reports of injuries. The LaPorte Fire Department is on scene and has evacuated all homes and businesses within a half mile of the accident scene. The line has been isolated to allow any residual product contained within to burn out safely. We do not currently have a timeline for how long this process will take, but are working closely with local authorities. We have received initial reports of an unknown passenger vehicle entering our right-of-way and striking the valve station. Air monitoring equipment is currently being set up in the area. We will release more details as they become available.

The Railroad Commission of Texas released the following statement:

Railroad Commission of Texas pipeline safety inspectors are investigating the fire that broke out Monday morning on an Energy Transfer natural gas-liquid gas pipeline in La Porte. Energy Transfer has shut down the portion of the pipeline that caught fire. RRC inspectors will work with state and local emergency responders at the scene.

The fire occurred in a pipeline corridor. The RRC is notifying other pipeline operators in the corridor of the incident and receiving information on the actions they are taking to ensure the safety of their systems.
