Another TV season is being planned.

With yesterday’s Emmy Awards, the 2023-2024 television season officially came to an end, and at the end of the evening, FX emerged as the winner with a total of 36 nominations. The network was second to Netflix in nominations, but FX’s “Shōgun” and “The Bear” were the two most nominated series of the evening.

“Shōgun” was the big winner of the night. The FX series was nominated for a total of 25 awards and took home a total of 18, including major honors for lead actress Anna Sawai, lead actor Hiroyuki Sanada and the biggest award of the night, outstanding drama series.

The FX original series, which also streams on Hulu, may return for a second season, as Sanada has reportedly signed a deal to return to the series.

The Bear was the show with the second most nominations, with 23 nominations, and also won the second most awards. Among the eleven categories it won were three of the four awards for Best Actor in a Comedy: Outstanding Lead Actor (Jeremy Allen White, his second consecutive Emmy), Outstanding Supporting Actress (Liza Colón-Zayas) and Outstanding Supporting Actor (Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who also won his second Emmy).

The FX original on Hulu won awards last night for its acclaimed second season, meaning this summer’s third season will be honored at next year’s Emmys.

This year’s most awarded miniseries is Netflix’s “Baby Reindeer,” an autobiographical dramedy by and starring Scottish comedian Richard Gadd.

In addition to winning the award for Outstanding Miniseries or Anthology Series, Gadd took home two other awards – for Outstanding Actor and Outstanding Screenplay – and rising star Jessica Gunning was named Outstanding Supporting Actress.

The Max original “Hacks” entered the night with 16 nominations, and while the show only took home three of them, two of them were big surprises (where something else, perhaps “The Bear,” should have won): Jean Smart was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy, while the show won the night’s most important comedy award, Best Comedy Series.
