2. New ramen and sushi restaurant opens in former Pei Wei space in southwest Fort Worth. A promising new Asian restaurant serving ramen and sushi has just opened in Fort Worth: Hokkaido Ramen & Sushi, located at 5900 Overton Ridge Blvd #130 in the City View Towne Crossing shopping center at Chisholm Trail Parkway and I-20, has taken over a former Pei Wei restaurant that closed in 2022.

3. Shaq’s Big Chicken restaurant is ready for its debut in Fort Worth. The wait is over for the highly anticipated Fort Worth debut of Big Chicken, celebrity restaurant owner Shaquille O’Neal’s signature chicken restaurant, which opened Sept. 3 in the Alliance area at 9755 North Fwy., in the Victory Shops at Heritage Trace.

4. Fort Worth’s TCU receives high honors in new ranking of the best U.S. colleges. The new school year may have just begun, but TCU students can already write home a report card. This time, their school will be graded. And don’t worry, Mom and Dad—it made the honor roll. Niche, an education rating and rankings website, has Texas Christian University the 8th best college in Texas and the 81st best private university in America (out of 915) for 2025.

5. Exclusive foodie tour with a stop at a farm west of Fort Worth. An expensive foodie event is returning to the Dallas-Fort Worth area—so to speak: Outstanding in the Field, which features dinners at communal tables that wind through real fields, is stopping at Shadow Creek in Bowie, a ranch about 80 miles west of downtown Fort Worth.
