Where are they now? A look at some of the key players in the Aaron Hernandez legal saga ahead of the hot new FX series

Jenkins Hernandez, portrayed by Jaylen Barron in the series, is the mother of Hernandez’s daughter and was his long-time fiancée at the time of his death. The couple lived in North Attleborough with their young daughter when Hernandez was arrested in 2013.

According to her Instagram profile, Jenkins Hernandez currently works as a licensed insurance broker and event planner.

She was living in Rhode Island in January 2023 when the Globe reported she was involved in a dispute with a lawyer She oversees a trust established for her daughter. The trustee is currently registered as a co-owner of a property in Johnston, RI, valued at $502,400, along with an LLC.

DJ Hernandez

Hernandez’s older brother, Dennis “DJ” Hernandez, has had his own run-ins with the law and also played a major role in “Gladiator,” the Globe’s investigative podcast about his sibling’s case.

DJ Hernandez, portrayed by Ean Castellanos in the series, was charged in federal court in July 2023 with menacing and stalking for allegedly threatening to shoot up the University of Connecticut and kill three people in another state. In October, he was ordered to undergo a competency evaluation. Records show he waived his right to a speedy arraignment and preliminary hearing earlier this month at the Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls, R.I., where he is being held. The case is still pending and no trial date has been set.

In 2018, DJ Hernandez published his memoir, The Truth About Aaron: My Journey to Understanding My Brother. DJ Hernandez, three years older than Aaron, described how his life was turned upside down by his brother’s death, writing, “I was guilty by association with him – guilty of being his brother.”

Terri Hernandez

Terri Hernandez, played by Tammy Blanchard in the series, is the mother of the Hernandez siblings.

Records show she still lives in Connecticut, and the Bristol, Connecticut home where she and her late husband Dennis raised their sons was sold in 2020 for $164,000.

Urban Meyer

Meyer, portrayed by Tony Yazbeck in the series, was Aaron Hernandez’s college coach at the University of Florida.

Meyer went on to work as an ESPN commentator, head coach of the Ohio State football team and head coach of the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. He currently serves as an analyst on “Big Noon Kickoff,” a college football program on Fox Sports. He also co-hosts a lively podcast called “The Triple Option.”

Tim Tebow

Tebow, portrayed by Patrick Schwarzenegger in the series, was a teammate of Aaron Hernandez at the University of Florida.

Tebow, a star quarterback in Florida and a staunch evangelical, later played in the NFL and was a professional baseball player for the New York Mets.

He has also worked as a college football commentator, published three books and is currently chairman of the Tim Tebow Foundation, a nonprofit that fights child exploitation and human trafficking and provides medical assistance to vulnerable people around the world, according to its website.

Brian Murphy

Murphy, played by Thomas Sadoski in the television series, was Aaron Hernandez’s sports agent and remained loyal to him after his arrest.

The Harvard Law School graduate and Medfield native continues to serve as CEO of Athletes First, his agency for NFL players. The company has represented more than 100 Pro Bowlers and eight Super Bowl MVPs, according to its website.

Bill Belichick

Belichick, portrayed in the series by Norbert Leo Butz, is the legendary former head coach of the Patriots who won six Super Bowl titles with the franchise before parting ways with the team in January.

He coached Hernandez during his tenure with the Patriots.

Since leaving the sidelines, the celebrated coach has maintained a strong media presence, including being a weekly guest on the Monday Night Football ManningCast with Peyton and Eli Manning, commentating on Inside the NFL on the CW Network, and weekly analysis for Underdog Fantasy on YouTube. He also co-hosts the Let’s Go! podcast with Jim Gray on Sirius XMR.
