When Kendall Jenner was criticized for her wedding guest outfit, the bride reacted SO

Kendall Jenner has made a name for herself in the fashion world today, but it hasn’t always been a walk in the park. The supermodel became the subject of heavy criticism in 2021 for her wedding guest outfit at her friend and influencer Lauren Perez’s wedding.

Jenner, 28, wore a daring black dress with diamond cutouts that exposed her stomach and chest at odd angles. The statement outfit from Monot’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection sparked controversy, with the Kardashians star’s fashion choice being brutally condemned by critics online as inappropriate for a wedding.

But the bride, Lauren Perez, was hardly bothered and even vouched for her best friend’s look, calling her “stunning” on social media. Months after the wedding, Perez, founder of skincare brand Anablue, shared a carousel of photos from her wedding reception, reigniting the debate over Kendall Jenner’s monochromatic dress.

Perez called her wedding night “the greatest night of 2021” in the caption and wished her fans a happy new year in a post on December 31. Shortly after, a user commented positively on Jenner’s dress, writing, “If the bride herself doesn’t care, then why do you care? Relax.”

The show of solidarity impressed Perez, who chimed in with praise for her best friend. “Tell them! SHE LOOKED STUNNING AND I LOVED IT!” the influencer defended herself. Eventually, Jenner understood the appreciation and revealed that her dress had been pre-approved for the wedding by the bride herself. “@laurenperez obviously asked for your approval in advance too. We love beach weddings,” Jenner replied to Perez’s comment under the post.

The brief conversation was enough for skeptics to backtrack, knowing that Perez had approved Jenner’s outfit, while many speculated that the model was trying to steal the show. Comments on this post have since been disabled.

Still, the world couldn’t stop talking about Jenner’s dress. According to Business Insider, etiquette expert and former wedding planner Elaine Swann supported the harsh criticism, saying the model “certainly made a mistake” and violated etiquette rules with her choice of outfit. She suggested that Jenner drew attention away from the bride and “stood out” from the crowd of other wedding guests.

Lauren Perez tied the knot with David Waltzer in a private beach wedding in Miami in November 2021.

The former Keeping Up with the Kardashians star recently made headlines with another controversial fashion statement. During her visit to Paris for the Vogue World: Paris Show in June 2024, Jenner walked barefoot into the Louvre.

She shared photos from her visit to the museum and boasted in the caption about a special late-night entrance. Jenner wore an all-black ensemble with a matching black top and a long, flowing skirt. The model paired the look with bare feet, forgoing shoes for the night. “The Louvre at midnight,” she wrote.

Her fans were not convinced by her stunt. One user wrote: “Barefoot in the Louvre? I don’t believe it,” while another criticised: “I find barefoot in the Louvre totally disgusting.”

With or without shoes, Jenner appeared to enjoy a lavish midnight moment all alone at the Louvre Museum, admiring the works of artistic greats such as Paolo Veronese and Leonardo Da Vinci.
