When is the next debate? Vice presidential candidates face each other

play

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump met for their first debate on Tuesday night, and the picture was dramatically different from the June debate between Trump and President Joe Biden.

Trump and Harris met in person for the first time on Tuesday during the presidential debate in Philadelphia, and it was one of the few times the two were even in the same room. Harris attended Trump’s State of the Union addresses as a senator from California, but other than that, the two have never been in the same room together. And the presidential candidates’ highly anticipated meeting was full of sharp barbs as they discussed election security, immigration and the economy, but muted microphones helped maintain decorum.

The debate, moderated by ABC News anchors David Muir and Linsey Davis, gave Harris the opportunity to introduce herself and lay out the policies she would focus on during her tenure in the White House if she won the election – a question many had been asking after she took over the Democratic nomination in July following Biden’s withdrawal.

Unlike the June debate, where people questioned whether Biden should run, this debate focused on the qualifications of both candidates and their positions on different policies.

One question that remains is whether we will see another Trump-Harris face-off before the general election in November. While that decision is still uncertain, Americans will have a chance to see their running mates, Republican JD Vance and Democrat Tim Walz, debate in October.

When is the vice presidential debate between JD Vance and Tim Walz?

According to CBS News, Walz and Vance will participate in a debate moderated by CBS News on October 1 in New York City.

Start time, rules and broadcast details will be announced at a later date.

Who are the moderators of the vice presidential debate on October 1?

The vice presidential debate will be moderated by CBS Evening News anchor and editor-in-chief Norah O’Donnell and Face the Nation anchor and CBS News foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan, the network announced last month.

Who is Kamala Harris’s vice presidential candidate?

Harris’ White House campaign came together quickly after Biden withdrew as the Democratic nominee in July amid mounting pressure from the party to get him to step down following his first debate with Trump.

Harris, who was Biden’s vice presidential candidate before his departure, chose her running mate, Minnesota Governor Walz, just before the Democratic National Convention in August.

Who is Donald Trump’s candidate for vice president?

Trump announced his nomination for vice president at the beginning of the Republican National Convention on July 15.

“After much thought and consideration, and taking into account the tremendous talents of many others, I have concluded that the person best qualified to serve as Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the great State of Ohio,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Monday.

Will there be another presidential debate between Harris and Trump?

Before the September 10 debate, the former president suggested dates for further debates ahead of the general election.

“I think they will be very insightful,” Trump told reporters during an impromptu press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida on August 8. “We would like to have three debates.”

But the week after the debate, Trump decided he would not participate in another debate. The former president announced on Truth Social that there would be no more debate, while also attacking Biden and Harris.

“KAMALA SHOULD FOCUS ON WHAT SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING FOR THE LAST ALMOST FOUR YEARS. THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, claiming he had won the September 10 debate.

At a campaign rally in North Carolina, Harris told the crowd, “We owe it to the voters to have another debate,” in response to Trump’s unwillingness to meet them on stage again before the November election.

ABC News/538 reported, citing three national polls and one poll in swing states: “57 percent of debate viewers nationwide said Harris performed better; only 34 percent said Trump performed better.”

Another CNN/SSRS poll found that debate viewers thought Harris performed better on stage in Philadelphia, 63% to 37%.

When is election day 2024?

The general election will take place on Tuesday, November 5th.
