CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Guardians earned a bye to the American League Division Series with their win Tuesday over Cincinnati. Cleveland (91-67) is currently No. 2 in the AL, 1 1/2 games behind the Yankees.
If the playoffs began today, Cleveland would face the winner of the wild-card series between Houston and Kansas City. The Guardians would host Games 1 and 2 and play Games 3 and 4 (if necessary) on the road before hosting a possible Game 5 if needed.

Regardless of opponent or seed, Cleveland will open ALDS play on October 5 at Progressive Field. After an off day, Game 2 of the series would take place on October 7. Times for each matchup have not been announced. Cleveland would likely play the early game each day, while the Yankees would most likely play in prime time.
Games 3 and 4 (if necessary) of the division series would be played on October 9 and 10 at the home stadium of the lower-seeded teams at times to be announced.
Game 5 (if necessary) would be played on October 12 at Progressive Field.
