What you should know about Tiffany jewelry

After Donald Trump’s “disaster” at the debate with Kamala Harris on Tuesday night, his campaign and supporters made a series of arguments expressing their anger. ABC anchors David Muir and Linsey Davis had ganged up on him – and gone soft on Harris. The fact-checking was inconsistent and unexpected. The topics discussed – and left out – were all wrong. And Harris had also reportedly engaged in some James Bond-worthy tech shenanigans, wearing “smart audio” earrings to communicate with her debate team over the course of the evening.

Harris appeared at the debate in a simple dark pantsuit and an ivory bow blouse, and it was her choice of accessories that stood out. The chunky gold and pearl earrings – which she had worn before and wore again on Wednesday morning at a ceremony marking the anniversary of 9/11 in New York City – are a design from luxury jewelry brand Tiffany’s “HardWear” collection, a spokesperson confirmed to the Daily Beast on Wednesday.

The collection “embodies enduring resilience and the ability to be free,” Tiffany’s website says. A pair of “HardWearDouble Pearl Hinged Earrings in Sterling Silver” retails for $800. The design is not currently available in gold, however. And, perhaps most importantly, it offers no wearable tech features.

Attacking designer bling as the domain of unworldly “elites” might seem like an obvious attack, but the MAGAverse had its own tinfoil hat trend to indulge in: The Tiffany pieces were misrepresented as a pair of NOVA H1 audio earrings from German tech/design brand Icebach Sound Solutions.

These earrings Do integrate wireless sound capabilities; Icebach’s “patented out-of-ear hearing technology called Directional Sound, which is hidden in a freshwater pearl attached to a silver- or gold-plated clip,” the brand explained on its website. “Directional Sound technology transmits sound from the pearl directly into your ear, allowing you to listen to music and make phone calls in a discreet way.”

ICEBACH SOUND Solutions

Reached for comment by the Daily Beast, Malte Iversen, chief executive of Icebach Sound Solutions, claimed there was a “striking” similarity between the design and Harris’ emails, but could not confirm whether she or her campaign team had made a purchase. The NOVA H1 earrings are currently sold out, Iversen said, and Icebach is seeking investors to expand production.

“Although our product is not specifically designed for use in presidential debates, it is nevertheless suitable for that purpose,” Iversen wrote in an email. “To ensure a level playing field for both candidates, we are currently developing a male version and will soon be able to offer it to the Trump campaign.”

Then Iversen could not resist attacking Trump personally: “The choice of color is a bit of a challenge, though, since orange does not go with many colors.”
