“He has a sprained ankle right now,” Steichen said.

Taylor has suffered severe ankle sprains in the past. The Colts running back suffered a severe ankle sprain during the 2022 season, missed three of the next five games and returned for five games before re-injuring his ankle, leading to surgery that eventually stretched into the first A contract dispute dragged on for four games of the 2023 season.

Early signs of Taylor’s injury on Sunday suggested that this injury was not as serious as the first. Taylor had his ankle re-taped and initially tried to get back into the game, although the team ultimately decided it was best to keep him out of action.
