Westgate SuperBook Offers Discounted Rates on NFL and College Football Betting | Betting

The Westgate SuperBook is alive and well and preparing for football season.

SuperBook recently ceased operations in eight states, but the giant Las Vegas flagship sports betting company is poised to pick up some business again after announcing Wednesday that it will offer reduced commissions on NFL and college football games this season.

The book offers NFL teams – or teams against the spread – at -108 and college football teams at -109, instead of the usual -110 juice or vigorish.

This means that NFL bettors only need to bet $108 to win $100, rather than $110 to win $100, while college bettors only need to bet $109 to win $100.

The SuperBook also offers a special price of -105 on UNLV game day games, Thursday NFL games, and other select dates including NFL games on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

“We wanted to do something different this season and thought something like this would create a stir,” said SuperBook Vice President Jay Kornegay. “Anyone who knows this space knows that SuperBook offers a little more value with this pricing.”

“Hopefully it will work out for both sides. Of course, we need more volume to get a better price, and that’s what we’re hoping for.”

The season promotion only applies to teams playing against the spread. During the season, the reduced price is available for the next week’s games, starting every Monday around noon.

For the first 24 hours that the odds are on the board, the sides are offered at the standard price of -110. The SuperBook releases its NFL opening odds for the following week on Sunday afternoon and opens its college odds on Sunday evening.

Later this week, the book will expand restrictions on college and NFL teams.

Home of SuperContest

The SuperBook – which has a friendly rivalry with Circa for the title of world’s largest sportsbook – has long been considered one of the most respected sportsbooks in Las Vegas and set the standard for the city’s high-profile football handicap competitions with the Westgate SuperContest.

But the company has struggled to compete in the national sports betting market, where nearly 70 percent of national wagers are on DraftKings and FanDuel, two bookmakers that do not operate in Nevada, according to research firm Eilers & Krejcik Gaming.

“Outside of Nevada, there is extreme competition. In the last year, probably 12 to 15 different operators have gone out of business,” Kornegay said. “We just couldn’t see any light at the end of the tunnel because of the exorbitant fees and taxes. The operating costs of these operations currently far exceed any profits.”

“I think it was the right decision because apart from a few, I’m not sure who will be profitable.”

“Still strong”

SuperBook closed its locations outside Nevada in Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia on July 19.

“It made sense for us to stop those activities and focus on Las Vegas,” Kornegay said. “That’s something I want to make clear to everyone: The operation here in Las Vegas is not going to slow down. It’s still going strong and by offering better prices, we’re getting back to our roots.”

“This is how we have built the brand since 2004. We have always been known for giving players a little more for their money, with great customer service and a great venue. This has created a brand that has been very popular and respected over the years.”
