What place will you finish in the league and why?

Eighth-tenth. I think a top ten finish should be the minimum target. The decision to leave David Moyes and go in a different direction will only prove successful if Julen Lopetegui builds on the very solid foundations Moyes left behind. On paper, the squad is good enough to challenge for European qualification, but we have to be realistic.

Who is the best new signing or has he not signed yet and who should it be?

Niclas Fullkrug. The club has done well so far, but the signing of the German striker is a real stroke of luck given his career achievements over the last four years. There is real hope that he will be the man to finally end West Ham’s striker curse in the Premier League.

What do you expect from your manager this season?

Signs of progress, but also that football will be a lot more fun than it was in the last 18 months of Moyes’ tenure. That won’t always be possible and we will still have to witness the odd very defensive performance, but if there are signs that he wants his team to keep the ball, fans should be more tolerant.

Who will be the shooting star in your team?

If George Earthy doesn’t go on loan, he could get more first-team time this season. He is showing a lot of promise after scoring on his debut against Luton last season.

What is your biggest concern?

If it doesn’t work out right away, fans will get restless. This season is all about the transition and getting the players used to Lopetegui’s ideas. We have to be patient and take our time. The reality is that everything will not always be perfect and there will probably be some frustrating and difficult moments throughout the season.
