Failure to deliver a wedding video costs the studio a lot of money

Coimbatore: The District Commission for Settlement of Consumer Disputes has ordered a Photo studio pay Compensation of 1 Lakh to a customer for non-delivery of a Wedding video Album after you receive payment for the service.
According to an official source, Ancy Selvaraj of Veerakeralam had hired Mettupalayam-based photography studio ‘The Picture Photography’ to provide photography and video services for her wedding and reception on January 26, 2023. The studio charged 45,000 for its services and she paid 40,000 in advance, the source said.
“The studio promised to deliver the wedding video and photo album on a USB stick within a month of the event. However, the studio only delivered the photo album and that too on September 11, 2023. Ancy later learned that the studio had lost the video,” the source said.
Ancy then submitted a petition to the district Consumer disputes Redressal Commission. In their order, Commission President R Thangavel and members P Marimuthu and G Suguna asked the photography studio to refund $40,000, the amount paid by the complainant for the wedding videography service. They also ordered the studio to pay her a compensation of Rs 1 lakh and another $5,000 towards litigation costs.
