Beach Hazard Warning for Lake Michigan beaches in Ottawa, Allegan, Van Buren and Berrien counties until 10 p.m.

Happy Saturday! As I write this, showers are moving in and out of West Michigan, wrapping around the low pressure system in the northern Lower. There are plenty of dry days in between, and that will essentially remain the case throughout the day. The only caveat is that a few thunderstorms are possible this afternoon. While visible satellite imagery shows heavy cloud cover, one or two sunbursts are impossible to ignore. Cool breezes off Lake Michigan will create a surf hazard at the lakeshore until 10 p.m. We’ve already seen waves over 4 feet; we advise you to stay off all piers if possible. Rainfall should taper off tonight, while clouds linger across West Michigan. Humidity will persist throughout the day and weekend.

Sunday won’t be quite as wet as today, and the farther east you are, the more likely you are to see scattered showers. Similar to today, a few thunderstorms are possible. Tomorrow will be even windier than today, meaning a renewed threat of rip currents on the lakeshore and gusts over 30-35 mph. Next week still looks great! We’re forecasting mostly sunny skies Monday through Friday with afternoon highs between 7 and 15 degrees. Nighttime lows should be quite comfortable between 10 and 15 degrees. Next Friday, temperatures will finally be back to 25 degrees. Join Meteorologist Will Haenni after WNBA basketball at 6 p.m.!
