Weather in Boston, New England weather forecast – NBC Boston

This record-breaking dry spell is coming to an end. A severe storm will move into New England on Thursday.

What looked like a weak attempt at rain showers now looks like a more beneficial downpour for the region. Leadership seemed a little hesitant about the idea of directing this rain into a very dry high pressure area (and landscape).

Now, however, the tide has turned and it looks like several rain bands will move in from the sea in the coming days. The amount of precipitation has been very variable – some places have had 1/2 inch, others at least 1 inch – which suggests that this wet spell could also bring heavy downpours.

We’re still seeing the South Coast and Cape/Islands receiving the largest amounts of rain. And we’re not going to get rid of the showers so easily. Some will last until Friday AND Saturday.

We hope that Sunday will be dry and perhaps even see some sunshine, but as this is a developing forecast, it is subject to change.

What we can certainly expect is a steady drop in temperature over the next few days. Today we will still reach temperatures of around 27 degrees away from the coast, but by the weekend we can expect a general drop in temperature of 15 degrees.

So put away the air conditioners, seed the lawn if necessary, and get ready for a few days indoors.
