LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – Labor Day saw the thermometer drop to 49 degrees for the first time since May 28. Cooler than usual temperatures are expected for most of the extended forecast, but overall temperatures should be at or above 50 degrees.
Maximum temperatures between 27 and 29 degrees are expected, with temperatures of 32 degrees likely in western Nebraska.
Mostly clear with nighttime lows between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius.
Wednesday continues to be the warmest of the 7 days in the capital. Temperatures between 27 and 32 degrees are expected across the state. The cooler temperatures in the west will be due to a passing cold front.
This front will likely produce some showers and storms, some of which could be severe. The Storm Prediction Center has noted a slight risk of isolated severe storms for much of central, northern, and western Nebraska. Gusty winds and possibly heavy hail are the main concerns for Wednesday.
This front will drop highs by about 10 degrees through Thursday, and another cold front will drop highs to above 70 degrees on Friday and Saturday. Rain chances are slim outside of Thursday as well.
