Watch the first trailer for the Yellowjackets star’s new horror film “Heretic”

A24 has released the first trailer for the mysterious new horror film “Heretic” from Yellowjackets star Sophie Thatcher.

Written and directed by A Quiet Place and 65 duo Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, Heretic is about two Mormon missionaries who attempt to convert a man, but it turns out to be far more dangerous than expected.

The film also stars Chloe East (The Fables) and Hugh Grant, who, if the trailer is to be believed, will show his scariest side in “Heretic”.

We knew a trailer was coming today (June 25) after A24 released the first poster for the film yesterday, which shows a burning blueberry pie-scented candle on a wooden table in a darkened room.

Thatcher plays the teenage version of Natalie in the hit survival thriller television series Yellowjackets.

She has experience in the horror genre, having previously played the lead role of Sadie in the Stephen King adaptation The Boogeyman, co-written by Beck and Woods.

Exclusively in conversation with Digital Spy Around the time of the release of “The Boogeyman,” the actor recalled that the terrifying script drew him to the project.

“The script was devastating. Sadie is just a really complicated, complex character. And she has such incredible development,” she said. “As an actress, I was immediately drawn to that. I think it translated really well to the screen, you could feel it in the script, you could feel the horror.”

“That’s rare when you read a lot of scripts and genre stuff, but also just know that it’s Stephen King, and that gives you confidence.”

Heretic will be released in US cinemas on November 15th and in UK cinemas on November 22nd.
