Watch Aphex Twin DJ at a wedding

Aphex Twin played a DJ set for less than 100 people at a friend’s wedding over the weekend. You can watch a video of the performance below.

In footage posted to X, the pioneering British musician is seen performing in a small venue, with visuals projected onto a screen in the background. Among the pieces he played was “The Bells” by veteran d&b producer Jonny L.

According to reports from attendees, Richard D. James is a friend of the groom and played the set as a gift. The lineup for the evening’s event, which attracted around 100 people, reportedly also included British electronic artist Luke Vibert.

Meanwhile, Aphex Twin is celebrating the 30th anniversary of his groundbreaking 1994 album Selected Ambient Works Volume II with a new box set, out October 4. Pre-orders for the expanded edition are available via Aphex Twin’s webshop.

Set to be released on October 4th via Warp, the reissue will mark the first time that all songs will be available on all formats, including the previously vinyl-only “Track #19.” It also includes two additional tracks – “th1 (evnslower)” and “Rhubarb Orc. 19.53 Rev” – which will be officially released on physical formats for the first time.

The news comes a year after Aphex Twin released the video for “Blackbox Life Recorder 21f,” which was directed by longtime collaborator Weirdcore. The EP also spawned its own augmented reality app.

In addition, a book analyzing every Aphex Twin album and track was released in 2023.

Rewatch his full set from Field Day 2023 via NTS.
